FreeFlow Dance was founded by Amy Kinlon, a dance artist and performer based in Dublin.
Amy is a highly experienced teacher, performer and choreographer who brings a passion for street dance and capoeira to bear on her contemporary dance practice.
In Amy’s words:
“For me flow is one of the most important components of dance practice, where there is no beginning and no end just the body immersed in a free flow.”
Amy has a Masters degree in Contemporary Dance Performance (Irish World Academy of Music & Dance, UL), a Higher National Diploma in Dance, Theatre, & Music (Roehampton University), a Diploma in Contemporary Dance Studies (Birkbeck University), and is trained in Community Dance Studies (Laban Centre London). She is also a graduated Capoeirista with Grupo Senzala Capoeira.
“My dance vocabulary is a fusion of contemporary, street and capoeira. Dance is more interesting to make and view when it has an element of something else layered, whether another dance style or distinct art form.”
Amy has taught dance classes both nationally and internationally including with Dance Theatre Ireland, Dance Ireland, Oficina Corpo e Arte (Brazil), University of Limerick and many more. She is a strong advocate of dance in the community and is experienced in working with all ages and abilities. She is the founder of International Dance Day Ireland, a Dublin-based festival developed to coincide with International Dance Day. The festival provides an opportunity to celebrate the Irish dance community, to support emerging artists, and to bring dance (literally) onto the streets and to new audiences.
